Pony Riders
Antoinette te Riele won the Pony Individual Test with Danny Boy B. She stayed mistake free and scored 72.72%. The only issue with this pony in this test was the collected walk in which the pony almost lost the clarity of rhythm moving into pacing. But Te Riele was the only rider who made no major mistakes, so first place was hers.
With her number one pony Golden Girl, Te Riele finished second. The mare is one of the best ponies in Europe at the moment, but the score of 70.88% (2nd place) was very generous as there were several mistakes. The canter strike off after the rein back was twice (!) in the wrong lead and two simple change were abrupt. The trot and canter extensions as well as the cadanced rhythm of this mare were the highlights.
Dana van Lierop and Lord Champion were third. This 8-year old pony came from Germany and was in Stable Rothenberger and later on in Belgium before moving to The Netherlands to find a new home and rider at Van Lierop's
Nanna Skodborg Merrald and Centrum. No doubt, this pair should have been the supreme winner yesterday. Today they should have finished second, but the judges placed them fifth. A few tiny hiccups in some transitions meddled with the otherwise harmonious image and they scored 69.03%
Junior Riders
Danish Catherine Dufour is not knocking at the door, but kicking. This junior rider is blowing everyone away with her two extraordinary horses Cadillac and Aithon. With the Swedish warmblood Cadillac she won the individual test!
Sanne van Grotel and the 15-year old Dutch warmblood gelding Melvin (by Flemmingh) tied with Dufour on first place. Both scored 70.00%. The Grand Prix level trained Melvin was previously co-owned by Imke Schellekens and Patrick De Deken.
Angela Kroowijk and Roman Nature (by Rohdiamant) placed third and with her Fidermark offspring Flash (pictured right) she slotted in fifth.
Young Riders
Young riders took centre stage at the CDI-PJYR Weert on Friday with the team championship test.
Diederik van Silfhout won the team test with the Dutch warmblood mare Ruby (by Gribaldi x Landwind II). The sensitive mare is absolutely supreme in trot, but was a bit tense and tight in the back in canter. Still they showed great stuff and scored 72.63%
Diederik's girlfriend Lotje Schoots finished second with the bay Dutch branded gelding Torricelli (by Florestan). The young rider competed this horse at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden and he's now her small tour choice.
Anky van Grunsven's student Marjolein Cho Chia Yuan and Pepper (by Pablo) finished third.
Marrigje van Baalen and the gorgeous stallion Don Cardinale (by Donnerhall) in fourth place.
