David Svensson provided the following photo report of the 2009 Swedish Young Horse Championships in Flyinge, Sweden, where Bellagio, Deja, Belamour and Paridon Magi won the national champions' titles.

Champion: Bellagio (KWPN, by United x Esteban) under Yvonne Österholm

BellagioThe very elegant 3-year old stallion Bellagio (by United out of Iduna (by Esteban x Heidelberg) won the Swedish Championship at Flyinge last weekend. The judges were thrilled by this horse especially for his outstanding canter which they considered very uphill, lightfeated and engaged.

"This is very promising for the future and higher level dressage work as it will be very easy to collect and very good for pirouettes and very uphill and free flying changes," said judge Dr. Dieter Schüle who was chair of the judges' panel. "His trot was also of very good, high quality with a natural cadence."

Later at the show, Bellagio was also proclaimed "Best in Show" winning the overall title among the 3-year old show jumping and dressage division. This bay stallion (which was previously called Bliksem) is born in Holland, bred by J. Van Westeinde and owned by Johan Ifverson in Sweden. Video Clip

According to photographer David Svensson, 8th placed Charon was somewhat underrated by the judges. Look at how he is really interacting with his rider. Manuel Bammel and Charon (by Rubinrot x Chapman) simply look super together. Charon is a Swedish born, Swedish owned approved stallion in training with Johnny Hilberrath
