Cyrano, Price Highlight of the 2010 EFS Auction, Sold to Helgstrand

Danish Olympic team rider Andreas Helgstrand acquired the price highlight at the 2010 EFS sport horse auction hosted by Gert Jan and Anne van Olst in Den Hout, The Netherlands. The 10the edition of the EFS auction was well attended and the collection included young show jumpers and dressage horses.

The 3-year old Lord Leatherdale offspring sold like hot cakes, especially now that the licensed stallion has three sons attracting interest at stallion licensings. Cedar (Lord Leatherdale x Negro) has been approved for the KWPN society, Latino (by Lord Leatherdale x Negro) is licensed for the NRPS society and Chapter Leatherdale (by Lord Leatherdale x Negro) got accepted by the AES Studbook.

Helgstrand purchased the 3-year old Cyrano (by Lord Leatherdale x Negro x Carthago) for 125,000 euro. The 171 cm standing dressage prospect now moves to Denmark after his acquisition through a tough bidding duel at this auction. Cyrano's dam Sugonda sold for 13,500 euro to Lane’s Corner Hoeve in Raamsdonk (NED).

Caballero (by Lord Leatherdale x Negro) sold for 26,500 euro to De Randhoeve in Dordrecht, while Canterbury (by Lord Leatherdale x Rubiquil) was purchased by President Stables in Rhoon (NED) for 21,500 euro.

The most expensive show jumper was Frans Z (by Franco x Kalypso). He sold for 24,000 euro to Portugal.

The 2010 EFS Auction was held in a great atmosphere and after one hour approximately 20 horses were sold.

Gert Jan van Olst Stallion Show

Before the auction Rijk Jan Pleijter opened the event with a presentation on embryotransfer followed by a presentation of Gert Jan van Olst's breeding stallions.

Show jumper For Money displayed his power and scope over jumps in freedom while Arco, Acapulco and Bustique were presented under saddle by Henry de Wulf. The 4-year old Bustique made huge jumps and showed off his potential and quality. Berlin was presented in hand.

Four dressage stallions took centre stage. Zucchereo was ridden by Dineke Verburg, Don Ruto by Carola de Heer and the new 3-year old top colt Salcido excelled under Mie Knudsen.

The dressage highlight of the stallion show was the appearance of Lord Leatherdale under Rabo Talent of the Year Lotje Schoots. Van Olst presented a top foal by Lord Leatherdale as well as two 4-year olds, ridden by Eric van de Wildenberg and Carola de Heer.

Danish Olympian Anne von Olst rode the 7-year old Netto (by Negro), while Mie Knudsen saddled Validus and Lotje Schoots was aboard Amazing. These were all high quality offspring by the keur stallion Negro.
