The combined 2010 Australian Young Rider Championships and National ParaEquestrian Dressage Championships saw over 200 horse and rider combinations converge upon the Toowoomba Showgrounds from Thursday 24 June through to Sunday 27 June for 4 days of both spectacular and inspiring competition.
The event incorporated the final selection qualifier for the Young Dressage Rider Championship. Based on the two best freestyle scores at the CDI-Y qualifying events from within the Asia-Africa-Pacific region, selectors now make their decision on which two riders will represent their country at the FEI Young Rider World Cup Dressage final in Frankfurt this December.
At the 2010 National Young Rider Dressage Championships, Queensland rider, Victoria Welch, with BJ Kaneto Casablanca, produced the hat trick of this final Australian qualifier to convincingly win both the CDI-Y FEI Individual Test and the CDI-Y FEI Freestyle Test.
In the series, Victoria is currently ranked 3rd on an average score of 67.414%, with leading ranked rider, Megan Bryant (NSW) on an average of 68.625% and second ranked rider, Alexis Hellyer (NSW) on an average of 68.54%.
