Maria von Essen's 14-year old Grand Prix horse Vivo has passed away. The bay Swedish warmblood gelding got injured in the spring and developed laminitis on top. Vivo unfortunately had to be humanely put down.
Bred by Sonja Paulsson, Vivo was by Master out of a Vivaldi dam. His first success started in the young horse classes in Sweden and under Maria von Essen he went all the way to international Grand Prix level.
For an injury in the spring Vivo had to be box rested. As soon as he rescovered from it and Von Essen picked up training, the horse got lame again and laminitis flared up, a condition he suffered and recovered from five years ago. One week ago his condition deteriorated dramatically and could not be saved.
