Australian Olympic and WEG team rider Hayley Beresford has a new London Olympic hopeful in her barn. Beresford's sponsor acquired the 2001 born Oldenburg licensed stallion Sun and Fun (by Sunny Boy x Azarro) for Beresford to ride.
Sun and Fun is an Oldenburg stallion by Sunny Boy out of Anna Karinina (by Azarro x Löwen As). He was bred and owned by Heinz-Dieter Blumhoff. At the Stallion Performance Test he was praised for his trot and canter. His walk scored 8.5 and his rideability 8.0. For character and willingness to work he received scores ranging from 8.0 to 9.0. Sun and Fun was previously trained and competed by the 30-year old Finnish Grand Prix rider Ville Palomäki.
The Australian Beresford relocated from Switzerland back to Germany in the autumn of 2010. She formed a new partnership with the Elmerhaus family and based herself at Zuchthof Schmidt in Lippetal-Lippborg. She also got the rides on their stallions Furst Grandios and Blickpunkt.
Hayley's Olympic and WEG Grand Prix horse Relampago do Retiro sustained an injury at the WEG in Kentucky but continues to make progress in his recovery and will hopefully be back in work in February next year. The dark bay Lusitano stallion, owned by Eduardo Fisher, is currently at his owner's place in Brazil to breed.
