Swiss young rider Simona Aeberhard has lost the ride on her 2010 European Championship horse Riccione following an injury. The 15-year old Swiss owned Hanoverian stallion by Regazzoni x Arogno/T x Bolero

will stand at stud at the Landgestut Warendorf for the 2011 breeding season.

Owned by Hans Grunder and ridden by Aeberhard, Riccione got injured in November 2010. Because he would not be available for sport during his recovery Grunder decided to fulfil the request of the Warendorf state stud who wanted to stand the stallion at stud again. As a young colt, Riccione first stood at stud in the Westfalian area and was still much requested by local breeders there.

"In the current breeding ranking of the Hanoverian society, Riccione currently has over 20 licensed sons and is still counted amongst the 10 most successful Hanoverian breeding stallions," Grunder explained. "For us it was quickly clear that, when possible, Riccione would be available again on the scene for the German breeders, so he could continue his breeding career there."

Most recently the Riccione offspring Riccidoff was the price highlight of the 2010 PSI Auction, selling for 680,000 euro to Betsy Juliano in the United States.
