Danish magazine Ridehesten.com reported that German Reitpony licensed stallion FS Concorde (by Champion de Luxe x Dornik B x Golden Dancer) was euthanized after a breeding accident at his home stable Sagagården in Billund, Denmark.
The palomino stallion got kicked by a mare during breeding and though nothing serious seemed to have happened at the beginning, owner Egon Kragh decided to trailer the stallion to equine clinic Højgård for a check up.
During the medical exam, Concorde was anaesthized in the navicular bone and later in the fetlock bone. Unfortunately tragedy really struck as at the clinic he then broke the navicular and complete tore the tendon. He was humanely put down on the spot.
Both the vet and the owner are very upset about the incident and the loss is great for owner Egon Kragh, who bought the colt in Germany as a 2-year old and who became reserve licensing champion in Denmark as a 3-year old. Also rider Jeannette Haugård will greatly miss the stallion with whom she won the Danish 4-year old Pony Championship with Concorde.
"I ride other ponies and horses but they never gave me that great feeling Concorde did each time I sat on him," said Haugård.
