Belgian FEI dressage rider Hannelore Volders got severly injured in a lorry accident at her home in Langdorp, Belgium, upon her return from the national dressage competition in Moorsele the weekend of 27-29 May 2011.
Arriving at her home stable, Volders jumped out of the lorry while the driver, who slowly kept on moving, lost visual of her. Hannelore got crushed between the horse box and another lorry parked on the yard. The paramedics were called and they immediately took her to the hospital where she was treated for multiple fractures.
Volders sustained six cracked ribs and fractured her shoulder and collar bone. She has been in intensive care for several days now, but seems to be stable and slowly getting better.
We wish Hannelore a speedy recovery!
