After the foal shows in Moritzburg and Warendorf, the Oldenburg licensing champion Fürstenball and the Westfalian reserve licensing champion Vitalis reigned as sire with their champion foals at the selection trials for the 2011 German Foal Championships in Lienen.
At the foal show in Moritzburg only four foals were ranked and selected for Lienen. The winning colt was a Furstenball x Lanciano, bred by Jürgen Leuteritz. This brings Furstenball's tally of selected foals for Lienen to a total of 8 whereas Sir Donnerhall I is the second best represented sire so far with 6 offspring. The winning filly in Moritzburg was a show jumping bred Clarimo x Loredano offspring, bred by Bernd Schierak.
On Vitalis' home turf at the Landgestut in Warendorf, the colts by this reserve Westfalian licensing champion (owned by the Landgestut) were ranked at the top. A Vitalis x Diamond Hit colt was proclaimed champion. He is bred by Rotraud Haarlammert. Ursula Frohlich's Vitalis x Dinard L was second. A Vitalis x Delphi filly, bred by Yvonne Alsmann, was proclaimed winner in the filly division.
Many of the top ranked foals in Warendorf will be auctioned at the Westfalian Elite Foal Auction on 13 - 14 August 2011.
