24 year old Michael Eilberg has won the Intermediaire I Championship on day two of the Dressage Deluxe National Dressage Championships, held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, on Friday 16 July 2011. Riding Julie and John Deverill’s nine-year-old mare Half Moon Delphi, an elegant British-bred grey by Dimaggio, he posted the highest score of the show so far, 75.37%, to secure the class in emphatic style.

“She has an ability to make the difficult stuff look easy,” said Michael, “a great ease and lightness within all the movements.”

“In yesterday’s intermediate II I asked for too much and she’s not yet ready to go at that level with that amount of power. She’s more confident at this level so can go with more power,” he explained.

“She’s a complete pleasure to train although you need to be quite tactful with her as she almost puts herself under too much pressure by trying so hard. We’ll look at a few internationals with her and step her up to big tour movements over the winter.”
