The 2011-2012 CHIO Cup for Dutch junior and young riders kicked off on Sunday 4 December 2011 with the first competition of the show circuit at De Kroo Equestrian in Nieuw en St. Joosland, The Netherlands. Junior rider Dana van Lierop and young rider Angela Krooswijk were the winners of the day both riding a Rohdiamant offspring.
Sixteen-year old junior Dana van Lierop reigned supreme aboard her dark bay DJ Tiesto (by Rohdiamant), scoring 5% more than the runner up of the division. With highlights in the extended trot and flying changes, Van Lierop put a score of 72.61% on the board and claimed the trophy. Aimee Weise and the bright bay Sportlife (by Montecristo) finished second on 67.16%, while Jeanine Nieuwenhuis and her schoolmaster Kyrain (by Cyrain) were third with 66.08%.
"Tiesto is such a top star. I had such a great weekend," van Lierop commented after her victory. The junior also won the ZZ-Licht class with a 70+ score the day before.
Angela Krooswijk and Roman Nature (by Rohdiamant) used the CHIO cup competition as preparation for the Young Riders World Cup Final taking place in two weeks time. The duo won the Young Riders class with 71.01%. Aboard her Fidermark offspring Flash, she finished second with 70.66%. Brand new young rider Stephanie Kooijman and the tall black gelding Winston (by OO Seven) were third with 70.22%.
Judge Mattie Boomaars commented that Kroowijk's tests were "two correct tests. Flash could have been slightly more energetic in trot and Roman Nature in canter."
