Botschafter and Elmer Hornbæk were proclaimed champions of the joint Danish Trakehner and Oldenburg Stallion Licensing held in Middelfart, Denmark, on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 February 2012.
The Danish branches of the Trakehner and Oldenburg breed society held their own annual licensing in Middelfart. Twelve Trakehner stallions and fifteen Oldenburg registered horses were seeking approval at the licensing.
Four Trakehners in total were accepted for breeding and the highly refined Botschafter (by Impetus x Michelangelo) was named licensing champion. The bay colt, which is bred by Hagen Willems and owned by Nils Bezold's stud farm Drei Kronen in Kiel, Germany, was not approved by the German Trakehner Society but bested the field in Denmark.
Six Oldenburg colts were approved and Elmer Hornbæk (by Leopold Hornbæk x Jaques) was named the champion. Karen and Jørgen Ahrendt-Jensen bred the black stallion with white blaze and also stand his sire Leopold at their station in Hornbaek, Denmark.
