The KWPN stallion selection committee made a mid-term assessment of the stallions participating in the 2012 KWPN Spring Stallion Performance Testing taking place at De Driehoekshoeve in Stegeren, The Netherlands.
The testing will conclude on 30 May 2012 and currently there still are six 3-year old dressage stallions in the running.
For the mid-term assessment the stallions were inspected today in the indoor arena as it was too rainy outside. Training director Kees de Feyter and the committee inspected each stallion individually and the riders were coached by selector Wim Ernes.
They made the following assessment:
- Excalibur (by Ampère x De Niro x Lord Sinclair)
This stallion has a balanced character, but should move more uphill and have more mobility and speed in his hindlegs - Etoile D.E.S. (by Don Schufro x Rubinstein I x Purioso)
This stallion has a co-operative character. He has a good hindleg usage but could have more frontleg usage in canter. - Edison O (Johnson x Rousseau x Boy B)
This horse is willing and active to work with, has a good hindleg usage but could move more with his entire body - Everdale (by Lord Leatherdale x Negro x El Corona)
This stallion is very rideable. The walk is clear and ground covering. The hindleg could carry more in trot. The canter is powerful and improves in its potential to collect. - Eye Catcher (by Vivaldi x Partout x Dublin)
This stallion is very rideable, active with three correct lightfooted gaits. He could move more with the withers up. - Estoril (by Zhivago x Gribaldi x Cadmus xx)
A stallion with an appealing forehand who improves in trot after some canter. The canter misses body use.
