The 26-year old Oldenburg licensed stallion Placido passed away at his home of 10 years, Gestut Floggensee. Placido was bred by Günter Bastian in Bargteheide and was by Pik Bube I x Graphit x Daimyo xx.
"His life with us was all about much freedom and time in the field," said Placido's owner Dr. Susanne Wulfsberg. "At the age of 16 he still learnt us traversal movements, tempi changes and pirouettes. He joined me in hand when I went out jogging and was a horse I could totally rely on. The highlight for me was to canter around our four hectare field without bridle nor saddle. It was wonderful. There is no horse I loved so much as him."
The 1986 born Oldenburg stallion was licensed and did his stallion performance test in Medingen in 1999, scoring 94.96 points. He initially stood at stud at Horst Rudnick's yard but then moved to Josef Kathmann's where he bred a larger amount of mares.
Placido sired four licensed sons: Pharis, Pinatubo, Pur Boy N and Placido Sun (also known as Pentagon). He sired 89 registered mares of which three became a state premium mare.
