Italy based Irish Grand Prix rider Anna Merveldt has no longer been functioning as Italian pony, junior and young riders team trainer since the spring of 2012. Merveldt was appointed to this position in 2010 and her contract was renewed in 2011.
At the beginning of 2012, however, the Italian Equestrian Federation proposed different conditions for the year, to which Merveldt could not comply.
In an official statement to Eurodressage, Merveldt said:
"Anna Merveldt was campaigning for the London Olympics and was therefore not available to accept the F.I.S.E. offer as Team Trainer. She does however, have a lot of interest in the Italian Juniors and Young Riders and hopes to continue in this function in the future. She wishes them all the very best in Berne."
