After a one-year break the SELL Foal auction of KWPN bred dressage and show jumping foals returned on the calendar and took place this year at the NHC equestrian centre in Deurne, The Netherlands. Hercules E (by Charmeur x Sir Sinclair) became the top selling foal at the 2012 SELL auction.
Bred by H. Ebbers, Hercules E is by Charmeur out of elite sport's mare Wendelin (by Sir Sinclair x Ferro). The black colt sold for 11,000 euro to Lisman Stables.
The filly Hibiscus ND (by Charmeur x Havidoff) sold for 9,250 euro. The filly's dam also produced the 2011 reserve licensing champion Dude (by Vivaldi), which sold at the 2008 Sell auction for 52,000 euro. Dude never made it to the stallion performance test and is not licensed to breed.
The best selling jumper foal was colt High Five (by Indoctro x Lux) which sold for 9,750 euro.
Three dressage foals sold for 7,000 euro: chestnut filly Hussy Marilla (by Cachet x Krack C), bay filly Herida (by Bretton Woods x United), and black colt High Hopes W (by Wynton x Donnerhall).
The average price for a foal at this auction was 4,200 euro.
