The colt Amplitud SD (by Amphere x De Niro) became the price highlight of the fifth Swedish Warmblood Foal Auction in Flyinge, Sweden. The auction took a jump-start when Jan Brink and Patrik Hannell acquired the first foal of the collection for the highest knock down price.
Bred by Stable Damino, Amplitud SD sold for 300,000 Swedish Kroner (34,760 €) after a bidding duel with a Norwegian buyer on the phone. The Ampere foals brought home a sizable amount of the total turnover.
The second most expensive foal was the lovely filly Icing for U (by Ampere x Bocelli) was sold to Norwegian Cathrine Rasmussen, based in Denmark at Stald Kleppenhus, for $32,450 €.
Danish junior team rider Anna Zibrandtsen and her parents bought four foals that will grow up on their property outside Copenhagen. Anna received an inside tips from Swedish rider Anna Blomgren about the foal from Kopparkulla as Anna has ridden several of the studs horses. Anna bought Kopparkulla Oliver (by Bellagio x Hotline) for 15,000 euro, along with the filly Electra (by Ampere x Donnerfly) for 16,200 €.
Norwegian young rider Camilla Christensen, who recently acquired the stallion Hohenstaufen II from Tullstorp Dressage and who is based at Jan Brink's barn, bought two foals: Zabatier DS (by Zack x Belton) for 6,375 euro and Axella ASA, a filly by Floricello x Orame, for 15,000 euro.
The dynamic duo that started the auction saw fit to bring home the last foal as well. Jan Brink and Patrik Hannell bought the colt K-Sir Metallic, a stunning mover with an interesting pedigree, sired by the Sir Donnerhall offspring Shooting Star out of the very elegant dam K-Diamond by Metall. All in all, they bought four foals together. They paid 24,330 euro for K Sir Metallic.
Selectors of this year's very good auction collection were Johan Ifversson and Andreas Jönsson. From approximantely 140 foals they selected 30 and 26 breeders went on to join the auction. Jan Brink is a SWB board member and has played a vital part in creating marketing opportunities for the Swedish breeders. Former Stallion committee chairman and breeding manager of Flyinge Karl-Henrik Heimdahl is appointed managing director for SWB as of 15 August 2012. He acted as announcer during the presentation and auction.
The average foal price at this auction was 11,445 euro.
