2012 Spanish Young Horse Championships

The 4-year old Dancing Dream, the 5-year old Dhannie, and the 6-year old Dai Colori Vistosi were the big winners at the 2012 Spanish Young Horse Championships held in Zaragoza, Spain, on 9 - 11 October 2012. No less than 52 four-year olds, 57 five-year olds, and 26 six-year olds gathered in Zaragoza to contest the national champion's titles.

In the 4-year old division Angel Dorado Martinez reigned supreme aboard the chunky black Dancing Dream, a Dutch bred Florencio x Rubin Royal offspring. This horse with lots of knee action won both the first round (77,600) and the second (82,000) to become the overall champion in his division. The Barcelona based Tamar Zafra Raya an the Spanish bred Hanoverian mare Silvia (by Scolari out of Lavell (by Londonderry)) finished in silver medal position. They were fourth after round A (76.20) but climbed to a second place in the final (73.40). Bronze went to Eva Pellat Masso on the liver chestnut Doctor de Encinasola, a Dutch warmblood by Scandic x Monteverdi. The combination scored 77.20 and 71.80.

Juan Francisco Fernandez and his quite experienced black Hanoverian Dhannie (by Don Crusador x Weltmeyer) were a league of their own finishing at the top of the leader board far ahead of all competition. The 5-year olds had to perform a straining three tests and Dhannie won them all with 80.00%, 77.60% and 81.20%. Antonio Abad Blanco Prieto  and the Dutch warmblood mare Corsina L (by Dayano x Good Times) were good for silver. They tied on first place in the first round (80,000%) but then had to leave Dhannie well ahead of them in round 2 and 3 (76,400%, 74,400%).  This bay mare sold as a foal at the 2007 Prinsjesdag foal auction under the name Cor-Sina L for 4,000 euro. Juan Antonio Vazquez and the chestnut Hanoverian gelding Wall Street JV (by Wie Weltmeyer x Star Regent xx) slotted in third with 75,800% (3rd), 75,800% (3rd) and 72,200% (5th).

In the 6-year old division Alvaro Martin de la Fuente and the brightly coloured chestnut Dai Colori Vistosi (by Danone I) raked in the necessary scores to take home the gold and national title. The pair won the first and third round (76.20, 82.80) and was third in the second round (74.00) but totalled the highest overall score. Juan Antonio Perez Pulido and the Hanoverian Diego (by Don Frederico x Weltruhm) made a massive climb on the ranking. They were only 14th after round 1 (66,40), but captured first place in round 2 (75.60) and were second in the finals (80.20) to finish overall on silver medal position. Antonio Jose Diaz Porras and the bay Dutch warmblood Bojangles (by Sorento) finished on the bronze step of the podium with solid scores of 73,40, 71,00, and 79,60.
