The Dutch warmblood keur preferent performance mare Jirondine passed away this week at age 22. This mare suffered from a severe colic attack but an operation could not save her.
Owned and bred by Jan Lamers from Oss, The Netherlands, Jirondine was from Ferro's first crop of foals out of ster mare Cirondine (by Nimmerdor x)
In 2009 this wonderful brood mare was honoured with the KWPN Brabant Cup at the National Mare Show.
Jirondine was a producer of top dressage horses, including Grand Prix mare Riondine (by Welt Hit II) ridden by Kirsten Beckers, and 2009 World Young Horse Chmpionship participant TC Wanted (by Montecristo) under Dieuwertje van Donselaar. The now 5-year old approved stallion Cachet L (by Jazz) is a successful competitor in the KWPN Stallion Competition and also represented The Netherlands at the 2012 World Young Horse Championships under owner Mirelle van Kemenade.
