2013 Horsefood Talent Competition

The 4-year old Exposition Boy and the 5-year old Dundee M won the 2013 Horsefood Dressage Talent Competition held for the 8th time in Berkel-Enschot on 23-24 March 2013. The Horsefood Talent Competition is a regional young horse show open to combinations from
The Netherlands and Belgium. Jan Wolds, Hans Peter Minderhoud and Edward Gal were the judges.

In the 4-year old division Carola Kulik-Paauwe took highest honours aboard Exposition Boy (by Spielberg x Obelisk). The combination bested the field with 82 points in the first round and a score of 100 from the guest judge riders. The bay stallion is also called Sensation Boy with the NRPS studbook. They beat 63 competitions with a whopping lead of 12,5 points. The runner-up was Dinja van Liere aboard Esprit (by Johnson x Gribaldi). They earned a 79.5 in round one and a 90 in the finals. José van Haaren and Eyecatcher (by Spielberg x Neostan) slotted in third with 79 and 85 points.

Judge Jan Wolfs told De Hoefslag that "we had a very nice group of horses; only a thin bottom group, a big middle group and a strong top group. The winner was a stallion with a rich conformation, a horse with much expression. He showed a very nice walk, with ground cover and relaxation and we also saw this picture in trot. Only point of criticism is that he could gain more power in the extensions."

The winner of the 4-year old class of the 2012 Horsefood Talent Competition reigned again this year in the 5-year old category. Guest judge rider in the finals was Erik van den Wildenberg. Under Sharon Loeffen the black licensed stallion Dundee M (by Lord Leatherdale x Sandro Hit) scored 80.5 points in the first round and 95 points in the final. José van Haaren and Dorito L (by Don Romantic x Rhodium) were the reserve champions with 80.5 and 90 points. Two horses tied in third place: Danielle van Mierlo's Dayano (by Jazz x Kasparov) and Susan de Klein's Deja Vu (by Dimaggio x Royal Diamond).

Jan Wolfs commented that "we had four different horses, each with their own qualities." About the winner Wolfs said that "the stallion has an extraordinary conformation. He's a horse with much type, a rich forehand and he moves nicely out of shoulder. His best gait is the trot in which he always moves uphill from the whithers."
