The chestnut colt Idono Paulowna (by Sir Donnerhall I x Krack C x Rohdiamant) became the top selling dressage foal at the 2013 KWPN Prinsjesdag Foal Auction in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on Tuesday 17 September 2013.
The Nekeman family, which also own Edward Gal's Grand Prix horse Next One and whose daughter Jeanine was a medalist at the 2013 European Junior Riders Championships, acquired Idono Paulowna for a whopping 47,000 euro.
"We have a long tradition of buying top foals at the Prinsjesdag and Borcule foal auction and we thought this Sir Donnerhall son was the best of the crop," said Lens Nekeman.
The 2013 Prinsjesdag foal auction was a huge success with many foals selling for over 10,000 euro, which led to an average foal price of 11,700 euro.
The second most expensive foal was Dutch De Niro (by De Niro x Florencio). The dark bay colt sold for 31,000 euro. Ruud van Nobelen's foal Impress SVN (by Totilas x Jazz) sold for 22,000 euro to the United States.
The most expensive filly was Iveniz Tewel (by Negro x Krack C). This liver chestnut filly sold for 20,000 euro.
