The nominations for the 2013 British Outstanding Mare Award have been opened. The award is to be presented to the breeder or associate of the mare who, in the opinion of the relevant discipline and the Awards committee, has made an outstanding contribution to British breeding.
"As we near the end of another successful season of equestrian sport with added boosts for British bred horses, what better than to look ahead
and recognise the top mares that could also produce horses to wow our
team selectors and we could look forward to seeing them and/or their
progeny on the podium in international competition," British Dressage expressed.
A nominated mare may have had an outstanding competition career herself or have bred a dynasty of progeny that have gone on to succeed in sport, or both. If you think you know of a mare that has made a valuable contribution to British breeding – we’d like to know about her!
The award will be presented at the annual British Breeders’ Awards Dinner, hosted and organised by the British Horse Foundation in London on 11 January 2014.
To nominate a mare with a performance and/or progeny record, whether alive or deceased, visit the BEF website to download a nomination form. Nominations close on 22 November 2013. All mares nominated previously will need to be re nominated and past nominees are welcome to re submit their nominations, even if they didn’t make the shortlist in previous years.
