The renowned Holsteiner breeding stallion Contendro I has been sold to France. The 1997 born Holsteiner has been acquired by Groupe France Elevage from Gestut Famos.

Contendro I (by Contender x Reichsgraf x Rasputin) became a premium stallion at the 1999 Holsteiner Stallion Licensing and was winner of the 2000 stallion performance test.

Nearly 40 of his offspring compete at S-level dressage. At least 86 of his sons were licensed and more than 98 daughters have been awarded a State Premium. Contendro I has sent around 250 offpring to the auctions in Verden alone. In 2012, Contendro I was by far the youngest sire among the top 13 of the world's best jumper-makers on the WBFSH Ranking

While Contendro I has mainly been a show jumping horse producer, his versatility is also proven in the large amount of dressage horses he sired. His most famous dressage offspring includes Isobel Wessel's small tour horse Chagall, Alex Hardwick's British Young Riders team horse Calvin G, German junior riders team gold medal winning Condio B, Tomasz Jasinski's Polish junior team horse Contendor, and Sarah Runge's small tour stallion Contendro's Bube.

Groupe France Elevage only stands show jumping sires and is totally show jumping oriented.
