The 2010 KWPN Licensing champion Cover Story (by Oscar x Corleone) has been euthanized last week following a series of colic attacks.
Bred and owned by Gert Willem van Norel, Cover Story became licensing champion in 's Hertogenbosch, but struggled to obtain the "licensed" status twice failing to participate in the performance testing. He finally succeeded as a 4-year old at the 50-day testing in April 2011 with a score of 75 points. The committee mentioned that the stallion cribbed in his stall. Soon after the testing the stallion underwent a first colic operation.
After Cover Story recovered from the operation Van Norel put the bay stallion in training with Diederik van Silfhout and the pair had planned on making their fourth level show debut in the autumn of 2014. The stallion was again struck by colic.
"Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be," van Norel commented. "Cover Story recently had another colic attack and in agreement with the veterinarians we decided to put him down."
Van Silfhout is currently competing Cover Story's full sister Anne Beth at the 2014 CDIO Vidauban. The pair won the Prix St Georges.
