On 12 July 2014 the Holsteiner licensed breeding stallion horse Calaccio passed away. The 11-year old Grand Prix stallion died suddenly that Sunday morning at his home Bartlgut in Austria.

Calaccio was born on 19 March 2003 and was bred by  Ernst Schacht.  He was by Carpaccio out of Gazelle III (by Calypso I). Calaccio was licensed for breeding in Austria at his owners Edda and Wenzel Schmidt at Hof Bartlgut in Neuhofen, Austria.

Calaccio was trained and competed up to Grand Prix level by Ulrike Prunthaller. The pair represented Austria at the 2008 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, where they finished 27th in the consolation finals. This year he showed at the CDI's in Vierzon and Lipica.

"He was a loving friend," Bartlgut stated. "CC as we called him was a fair sports partner, always willing to work. Not once did he abandon our Ulli in the show ring. We have not only lost an international Grand Prix horse, but also a friend who was co-responsible for the success of Bartlgut."
