Dr. Marc Koene has been appointed to replace Dr. Cordula Gather as veterinarian of the German dressage team. Koene will begin working as dressage team vet in 2015.

The Dutch born Koene is based in Lüsche-Bakum (south of Cloppenburg), Germany, where he runs a big equine clinic and specializes in orthopedics and ophthalmology.

Koene has been Germany's team veterinarian for carriage driving since 2005. He will be replacing Gather, who was appointed in 2009 but has now asked to step down because of her increasing work commitment to the equine clinic in Weilerswist. She no longer has sufficient time to supervise the dressage team horses and attend the major events and championships for them.

Koene's colleague at the Lusche equine clinic, Dutch Jan-Hein Swagemakers, is German show jumping team veterinarian.
