On the first pre-selection day for the 2015 KWPN Stallion Licensing in Ermelo, The Netherlands, 19 colts out of a group of 52 colts were accepted for the next round of the licensing.
Johnson was the best sire of the first pre-selection day with four offspring picked. Jazz and Negro both have three offspring to move on to 's Hertogenbosch in February 2014.
The KWPN Stallion Licensing Committee consists of chair Wim Ernes, assisted by Marian Dorresteijn and Reijer van Woudenbergh. "On average we were able to select a good group today for the second viewing. They are interesting stallions with a good variation in their pedigree," Ernes commented. "There were no real highlights but it seems that it's a group of colts in which we trust we can do a good future selection."
Ernes pointed out two Easy Game sons and a nice Romanov offspring as stand outs. "There are sons of several foreign stallions selected for the next round," Ernes added.
The KWPN society is known for being quite strict when it comes to conformation. Ernes commented that, "just like every year there were several stallions which had too many issues in their conformation, but we have the impression that it's improving. It's only the first day of the pre-selection so we can't be cheerful too soon. Hopefully we can continue this positive trend as we put much value on a correct conformation," Ernes concluded
