The 15-year old Westfalian licensed stallion and multiple international championship medal winner Damon Hill will make his first public appearance at the 2015 Equitana Stallion Show in March, since the break-up with his rider Helen Langehanenberg.
Equitana issued a press release on Damon Hill's appearance, but did not provide any details on whether the stallion would be presented under saddle or in hand.
The partnership between Damon Hill and his steady rider Helen Langehanenberg, who brought the Donnerhall x Rubinstein offspring to greatness by last winning double silver and team gold at the 2014 World Equestrian Games, ended in November 2014. The stallion had moved home from Helen's yard to owner Melanie and Christian Becks' stable and would be retired from sport.
Three weeks ago German journalist Dieter Ludwig posted that Damon Hill is currently being trained at Heiner Schiergen's yard, where Becks' daughter Jil Marielle Becks is being coached. Schiergen has several of Becks' horses in training to be sold but there was no explanation whether Damon Hill was just being kept fit, or prepared for a new career with junior rider daughter Jil Marielle.
Eurodressage contacted Becks on numerous occasions for more information on Schiergen training their pride stallion, but they refused to reply.
The stallion show at Equitana in Essen is on 15 March 2015.
