Dressage performance centre Gestüt Wiesenhof in Krefeld, Germany, has reacquired the Oldenburg licensed stallion Sandro King (by Sandro Hit x Calypso) from Danish owner Stine Bo Nielsen. Sandro King will be standing at stud at Wiesenhof for the 2015 breeding season.

The 1998 born Sandro King is bred by Brigitte Klaholz and is by Sandro Hit out of Calystra (by Calypso I x Farnese x Marder).

He was first licensed for the Hessian studbook in Altefeld in February 2000 and then by the Oldenburg breed society in November 2000. The black stallion successfully completed his 30-day Stallion Performance Test in Vechta in 2002 with a dressage score of 8.5. He is also approved for the Rhinelander, Hanoverian and Danish warmblood society.

Trained by former Danish Grand Prix team rider Fie Skarsoe, Sandro King competed at the 2003 Bundeschampionate for 5-year old dressage horses. He was trained up to M-level before he was sold as a 7-year old to Danish FEI rider Stine Bo Nielsen. Under his Danish rider the dark bay dressage talent moved up to Prix St Georges level. From 2009 till 2011 Sandro King was shown by Danish Rie Møller Jensen up to national Grand Prix level.

Gestüt Wiesenhof has now bought the 17-year old stallion back from Stine Bo Nielsen, so he can continue his breeding career in Germany. Sandro King will be joining Münchhausen, Dusterberg, Donauruf and Kentucky on the 2015 stallion roster of Gestut Wiesenhof.

"Last year we had so many requests about semen from our stallions Münchhausen, Kentucky and Donauruf, so we decided to reopen the EU breeding station for 2015," Gestüt Wiesenhof's head trainer Kilian Hüttner explained. "That means that our stallions Münchhausen and Kentucky will be available for fresh semen. Donauruf, however, will be focusing on his sport career with Fie Skarsoe and will only be available via frozen semen."

Sandro King has proven himself to be one of the most successful licensed Sandro Hit offsprings with the Danish bred Samba King, the 2012 Danish Young Horse Champion and 2014 German Developing Prix St Georges Horse Champion, as highlight offspring.  The Danish mare Fabrix Miss Esandri is the 2009 Danish Warmblood Mare of the Year.

"A few weeks ago Stine Bo contacted us about Sandro King and the possibility to put him up for breeding," said Hüttner. "Because we always liked this stallion and followed his career we were happy to get the possibility to buy him back and retire Sandro King here at our stud. Now he will have the chance to pass on his exceptional potential to his future offspring. In the past we have seen some very good offspring by him, including Samba King and Fabrix Miss Esandri. Due to the great success of Samba King under Matthias Rath we already received many requests, also from abroad, for Sandro King's semen."

Sandro King is a gorgeous dark bay dressage stallion with an amazing expression and super elastic basic gaits. "Sandro King's great character and his outstanding gaits with especially his enormous shoulder freedom make him an interesting sire for many mares," Hüttner added.

Sandro King's fresh semen will be available for 900 euro, but Gestüt Wiesenhof offers a deep discount for breeders who make an early decision to use one of their stallions.
