The Hanoverian premium stallion and auction price highlight D'Avie will not be standing at stud this 2015 breeding season. The Don Juan de Hus x Londonderry offspring is not producing good enough semen quality at this time.
D'Avie was the sensation of the 2014 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing and also got approved by the Danish Warmblood society at the beginning of March. He just finished the 10-day observation test in Vilhelmsborg with success but the motility of semen is not good enough for breeding.
Owners Arlette and Edwin Kohl and Andreas Helgstrand have now mutually agreed not to stand D'Avie at stud but to give him a break. The chestnut stallion will only turn 3 years old on 18 June 2015.
"We want to give our customers the best opportunites. The veterinarians believe that the tests will be better and that D'Avie will be up to stand at stud," Helgstrand stated. "D'Avie will now have time to recover from both licensings in Germany and Denmark. We hope that people will understand our decision, which we certainly find annoying, but we believe this decision is in the best interest of the stallion and the breeders."
