The 5-year old Trakehner licensed breeding stallion San Silviano has been gelded. The bay stallion has produced only one crop of foals that was born in 2014.
Bred by Gestut Heinen in Issum, Germany, San Silviano is by Polarion out of the Trakehner Mare Champio Shakira (by Biotop x Konigspark xx). He is the third approved son of this dam after Shapiro and Singolo.
San Silviano caused quite a stir at the 2012 Trakehner Stallion Licensing in Neumunster as one half of the spectators loved his aura, expression, the good hard surface performance and his well-balanced free jumping, while the other half criticized his lack of rhythm at liberty, where his legs did move with exuberant mechanics, but his back failed to support his body adequately and the stallion lost his rhythm many times.
San Silviano sold at the Neumunster Auction in 2012 for 130,000 euro to Wilfried Bechtolsheimer. He was first stationed at Hofgut Albführen but then moved to Ferienhof Stucker, when Jana Freund took over the ride on the bay in February 2014.
The stallion has now been gelded and Laura Tomlinson-Bechtolsheimer will continue the training of the gelding in Great Britain.
