The KWPN licensed dressage stallion Westenwind has been sold to a Dutch rider. The 13-year old Dutch warmblood stallion is by Flemmingh x Contango and will now be focused on sport instead of breeding.

Westenwind was owned by Adri Zekveld and was licensed in 2006 and scored 78 points in his Stallion Performance Test. He was first named Wizard of Belle, then Watch Me before getting the name Westenwind.

He has been competed by a string of riders, starting with Emmelie Scholtens, Belgian Tom Franckx and more recently Kirsten Brouwer and her assistant trainer Ellis Halbmeijer.

The dark bay Westenwind has an extensive show career as a competition horse. Under Scholtens Westenwind competed at Z-level in the KWPN Stallion Competition in 2009 - 2010. He twice competed at the World Young Horse Championships in Verden. He won the Dutch Championships at Z1 level and in 2011 he became Dutch Champion at ZZ-Zwaar level.

Tom Franckx introduced the stallion to small tour level in Belgium, but in 2014 Westenwind moved to Kirsten Brouwer, who finished 13th at the 2014 Dutch Small Tour Championships with him.

Westenwind's most successful offspring, so far, is Stephanie de Frel's IBOP elite mare Doraya (by Westenwind x Jazz x Leraar).
