Pequignet and Heuberger Stand Out at 2015 Trakehner Championships

2015 Trakehner Championships

The winners have been crowned after four days of competition at the 2015 Trakehner Championships held annually in Hanover, Germany. The 2015 edition took place on 23 - 26 July 2015 and featured a plethora of classes and age divisions in all three Olympic disciplines: dressage, show jumping, and eventing.

The Trakehner Championships also include in hand classes for young mares as well as a foal auction. For lovers of the Trakehner breed this competition is one not to be missed.

Riding Horse Champions

The 3-year old showed the best form of the day in the mare and geldings class was the mare Pure Freude (by Shapiro x Goldschmidt), which is bred and owned by Marion Essing. She scored 8.79 points. Mille Grazie (by Easy Game x Ravel) became the reserve champion with 8.36. This mare is bred by Bettina Bieschweski, owned by the Eisner family and in training at Helen Langehanenberg's yard. Fleur (by Kentucky x Grafenstolz) finished third with 8.21.

In the 3-year old stallion class two winners surfaced at the top with the same score of 8.57: Vapiano (by Kentucky x Easy Game) and Indesign (by Easy Game x Insterburg). Kyriakos (by Elfado x Ivernel) landed third place with 8.57 points.

In the 4-year old mare and gelding division the grey gelding Perano (by Hofrat x Herzzauber) took highest honour with 8.71 points, ahead of Hirtenglanz (by All Inclusive x Lord Luciano) who finished on 8.43 points.  Inclusive (by All Inclusive x King Arthur) completed the top three with 8.36 points.

Gut Saalhoff's Eldorado (by Buddenbrock x Caprimond) topped the leader board in the 4-year old stallion class with a score of 8.64 points. The licensed Hopkins (by Hofrat x Artistic Rock) landed second place with 8.29 points and edged out Scaglietti (by All Inklusive x Michelangelo) with 8.07 points.

Pequignet Becomes the 2015 Trakehner Dressage Horse Champion

In Germany youngsters aged 3 and 4 are still considered "riding horses" as they have not yet really been focused one one specific discipline. As soon as they turn 5 their riders can choose between dressage, show jumping and eventing. The 5 and 6-year old dressage horses contest the L and M-level classes.

In Hanover a special 6-year old championship  took place which was won by the Luxembourg based Danish rider Kristine Moller on the Pequignet (by Prinz K3 x Silvermoon). The grey Pequignet is bred and owned by Jens Thorsen.

Heuberger Supreme at S-level

Anabel Balkenhol and the internationally experienced small tour horse Heuberger (by Imperio x Michelangelo) moved into the winner's circle in Hanover in the S-level division. The duo scored a very strong 75.833% to ace the class. Christina Lebens and Amadelio (by Lehndorff's x Lauries Crusador xx)  finished second with 68.86%. They edged out Karin Luhrs on Sergeant Pepper (by Exklusiv x Enrico Caruso) with 68.772%.

"We're very proud and happy about Heuberger's development," said an ecstatic Balkenhol after winning the Championship.
