The debut of the International Dressage Cup for Ponies during the 2015 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, Germany on 4 - 9 August 2015 was particularly popular with visitors from Germany and abroad. This brand new series for five- and six-year-old ponies, modeled on the example of the World Championships, turned out to be a brilliant and popular idea.
It became a success even more so as the quality of the presented riding ponies was extremely high. The International Dressage Cup for ponies has to become a new crow magnet for Verden as the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses are moving to Ermelo, The Netherlands in 2016 while the Verden Equestrian Competition will continue to exist with a national young horse and pony program, a CDI Grand Prix tour and international show jumping classes.
Winners in the 2015 inaugural International Dressage Cup for Ponies were Carleo Go and Timberlake SH.
Carleo Go, a Weser Ems bred pony by Constantin x Weltmeyer, turned out to be a particularly eagerly moving youngster, winning the Final of five-year-old dressage ponies under German junior rider team member Paulina Holzknecht. The pair scored a final mark of 8.3. Just like the runner-up, stallion D-Day AT, Carleo Go was rewarded a 9 for trot. Zoe Gilbers and D-Day AT (by Dance Star x Notre Beau) were second in the Final in Verden with an 8.2 total.
