Peter Ebinger Passed Away

Former Austrian Grand Prix champion and multiple team rider Peter Ebinger has passed away after a brave battle against cancer on 24 August 2015. He was 56 years old.

Ebinger represented Austria at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles aboard Malachit and finished 9th with the team. The Bavarian bred Malachit was trained to small tour level by Christine Stuckelberger, whose partner Georg Wahl was the Austrian team trainer in the 1970s and Ebinger's coach at the time.

With Venetia (by May Sherif) he rode three (inter)continental Championships: the 1990 World Equestrian Games in Stockholm where he finished 43rd individualy, the 1991 European Championships in Donaueschingen where they were 9th with the team and the 1993 European Championships in Lipica, where they were 8th with the team and 12th individually. Aboard the Danish warmblood Picasso he contested the 1995 European Championships in Mondorf Les Bains.

Ebinger also became Austrian Grand Prix Champion in 1993 and 1995. His last Grand Prix horse was the Holsteiner gelding Joker (by Coriander x Liostro) which he competed internationally between 2005 and 2009.

Ebinger had ahis own private dressage yard in Kaumberg, Austria, and rented stalls to Russian Grand Prix rider Elena Sidneva.
