The Trakehner licensed breeding stallion Saint Cloud has passed away at age 27 on 18 December 2015. The stallion was euthanized as he was suffering from old age.
Saint Cloud was born in 1988 and bred by Martha Haasler. He was by Neuquen xx out of Silke (by Incitatus x Wirbelwind xx x Martini). He has switched ownership a few times. He was owned by Hans-Joachim Nagel and Karin Rehbein before moving to Switzerland and finally to Niels Grondahl's station in Denmark, where he stood the last years of his life, first at stud and then in retirement after he lost his fertility.
Saint Cloud was licensed at the 1990 Trakehner Stallion Licensing in Neumunster and approved for all major German studbooks. He did his 100-day Stallion Performance Test in 1991 in Munich and scored 137.08 points to finish second overall. He won dressage with 153.94 points. He stood at stud at Gestut Webelsgrund, Gestut Muhlengrund and Gestut Grönwohldhof in Germany.
Saint Cloud was active in competition sport. As a youngster he was competed by a string of riders, including Manfred Herzog, Diana Kröll and Helmar Bescht, Christoph von Daehne. Oliver Luze introduced the stallion at small tour level before Karin Rehbein took over the ride in 1998. She first showed hum at PSG - Inter I level and made the transition to Grand Prix level in April - May 1998. Their last show together was in July 1998 at the national even in Spangenberg. In 1999 the black stallion sold to Barbara von Grebel in Switzerland who aimed to qualify him for the 2000 Olympics. In 2003 he sold to Denmark.
Saint Cloud has 400 offspring registered as sport horse in Germany. Nine of them have competed at S-level. He has 6 licensed offspring (Bellheim, Eloquent, Latimer, Liebestraum, Manhattan and Solé Mio) in Germany and sired 8 State Premium Mares. His most successful offspring in sport were licensed stallion Latimer and Britih Grand Prix horse Saint Swithens.
