The Swedish warmblood licensed breeding stallion Chirlon has passed away at age 27 at his home, Jan Brink's Tullstorp yard in Sweden.
Bred by Kenneth Safstrom, the black Chirlon was by Ceylon out of Wisita (by Kaliber x Toreador x Ursus). He was owned by Jan Brink.
Chirlon was licensed with the Swedish warmblood society and finished second in his Stallion Performance Test in 1993. He scored 7 for walk, 8 for trot and 9 for type. He covered 373 mares in Sweden between 1993 and 2014.
Chirlon began his competition career under Jan Brink as a young horse but sold to Dutch young rider Christiane Appel in 1995 when the horse was 6. She competed him at small tour level. Roger Schulkens briefly showed the black at Grand Prix level.
In 2009 Brink bought Chirlon back and brought him to Sweden where he was retired from sport but continued to stand at stud as the last surviving approved son by Ceylon.
"He will be buried under his favourite oak tree, the same where Martini rests. We love these stallions which have meant so much to me," said Brink.
Chirlon's most famous dressage offspring include Grand Prix horses Chiaretto (dam sire Neapel), Chirocco (dam sire Castello), Spartano (dam sire Oldenburg)
