What's Happening in the Dressage World?

German Grand Prix rider Ingrid Klimke has been operated on by Dr. Erik Allemeyer for an acute infection of the rectum. She was transported to the Raphael clinic in Munster, Germany, where the operation took place. Klimke will be allowed back in the saddle in three to four weeks.

Italian Grand Prix rider Silvia Rizzo is listed by the equestrian lifestyle website Derby House Post as an "Equestrian Style Queens: The World’s Chicest Riders." Derby House Post put royalty Charlotte Casiraghi first and Rizzo third. They described the dressage rider as following: Silvia Rizzo has long been pushing the boundaries of traditional dressage competition-wear with original outfit choices, including a custom made chrome helmet, and recently won an award for representing Italian elegance and style in international sport. Not content with being a fashion icon—she even has a style column on psdressage.com—the Milan-born, German-based rider, has now launched her own equestrian clothing range, aptly named Stylish Rider." Two more dressage riders are listed on the page: British junior Erin Williams and British FEI level dressage rider Louise Bell.

Italian Grand Prix rider Anna Campanella has decided to relocate her business from Italy to The Netherlands. At the end of May Campanella will move to a yard near Venlo, The Netherlands, as she wants to be closer to all the action mainly dealing horses for clients from Western and Eastern Europe. German horse dealer Dirk Haese has also moved his business. He relocated from Germany to a yard near Antwerp, Belgium. Holga Finken had to find a new stable, when Rudolf Zeilinger sold his yard to Korean Ha Kyung Song. Finken has taken his horses to Stable Sudhof in Hagen, Germany.

Irish Grand Prix rider Judy Reynolds was honoured for her 2015 sporting achievements in Dorsten, the town she lives in Germany, where she received a silver medal in recognition. Her father Joe joined Judy for the medal ceremony. In her home country Ireland, Reynolds also received the Irish Field Award for Best Dressage Rider of the Year on 8 February 2016.

American 2014 WEG team short listed Grand Prix rider Caroline Roffman and her partner Ben Meredith, an Australian show jumper based in Kentucky, got engaged on 20 February 2016. The couple is also expecting their first baby - a girl - very soon.

French Grand Prix team rider Ludovic Henry has acquired a new horse as rising FEI talent: Casanova, a 9-year old, 1m83 standing Dutch warmblood by Jazz. He was previously trained by Vincent Guilloteau, who also brought along Arlene Page's current number one Grand Prix horse Woodstock.

The German Hanoverian society has ended the employment of auctioneer Daniel Delius. The two parties split after Delius issued statements in the press with which the Hanoverian society disagrees.
