Unique Sport Horses is celebrating its 8th anniversary as successful horse sales company this year. Based in Europe since 1999, Australian dressage rider Geoff Butler founded Unique Sport Horses in 2009 after having worked 10 years with top, international dressage stables.
Since starting, Geoff’s horse sales company “Unique Sport Horses” has steadily grown from strength to strength. When asked what sets his horse sales company apart from the rest Geoff replied, “I believe it’s a few things such as my hands on approach to every step of the selection and purchasing process. I know how daunting the idea of purchasing a horse in Europe can be for many people, and I’m also aware of the pitfalls... but my job is to try and make sure that my clients find the purchasing process to be a well organized, positive, and successful experience. Having lived here since 1999 I’ve built up an extensive network that my clients can benefit from. The fact that I’m a native English speaker competent with the Dutch language also has its obvious advantages for overseas buyers.”
This formula has clearly worked as Geoff has successfully sold horses to satisfied customers throughout the world in countries that include; America, Australia, South Africa and throughout Europe. Some of those horses are; Australian Dressage With The Stars winner “Rose Water Driving Miss Daisy” and “Winston” who went on to represent Canada under Tina Irwin at the Pan Am Games.
An internationally successful horse that was sold through Unique Sport Horses is World Young horse Silver medal winner and two time Pavo cup winner “Borencio.” Borencio was expertly ridden by Emmelie Scholtens was later sold to Danish buyers through Unique Sport Horses. When asked about the sale Geoff replied “I’m very proud to have initiated the sale of such a world class horse like Borencio.” Yet another success story is the Sir Sinclair gelding “Zwetcher,” who was trained and competed with great results in the international PSG arena by Sheela van Bregt. In 2015 Zwetcher won the team gold for the German Junior team under Kristin Biermann. A horse to watch out for in the future is Jaimey Irwin’s talented 8 yr old gelding by Johnson “Donagal V.” Jaimey and Tina bought Donegal through Geoff as a youngster and he’s been consistently producing impressive scores well over 70% in the PSG and Inter 1 this season in Florida.
The part of the horse sales process that Geoff pays particular attention to and the part that he believes is neglected by many other sales agents is the after sales support. “I like to keep in regular contact with all my clients after they’ve purchased horses and they all know they can contact me at any time should they need advice, support, or training. Those initial few months are so important and can be quite daunting at times. I think it’s a great comfort to my clients to know that they are not alone during this period and that support is there should they need it.”
Unique Sport Horses client, Andrea from Shepparton, Australia was asked to share her experience of working with Geoff remarked, “With his very professional manner and talented and experienced eye Geoff has found me 3 mares with lovely characters and outstanding movement.
