Austrian team rider Astrid Neumayer scored a double victory in the big tour at the very small international dressage competition hosted by Sissy Max-Theurer at her German brood farm Gestut Vorwerk in Cappeln, Germany, on 8 - 10 July 2016. With only 13 pairs in the Special tour, 8 in the Kur tour and 10 in the small tour, the 2016 CDI Cappeln was certainly "boutique" style.

Astrid Neumayer was able to manage a strong double success in the Grand Prix freestyle,  after she had have won the Grand Prix for Kur. Aboard her 16-year-old bay gelding Rodriguez (by Rubinstern Noir x Gaspari II) she scored 73.10 % in the Kur for victory and ranked ahead of Anna-Katharina Gerber on the 13-year old Bavarian mare Farah Donna (by Don Davidoff x Jalisco Jr). The German pair scored the same mark, 71.55% as American Jennifer Hoffmann on Rubinio NRW (by Rubin Royal), but Gerber had the better B-mark and therefore placed second.

"I'm so happy," Neumayer commented. "Rodi will now get a short summer break with even more time in the field than otherwise and lots of hacking."

Austrian Dressage Champion Victoria Max-Theurer made her international small tour debut aboard her newest acquisition, the licensed stallion Lord Leopold. They won the Prix St. Georges with 73.92%.

"I am very happy with Lord Leopold. We still improve our performance and I think this is what the people want to see,“ said Victoria Max-Theurer, who pushed her home yard assistant rider Wibke Bruns on Donna Caribica (by Don Frederico x Krack C) to the second place (72.21 percent). Luxembiurg based DanishKristine Möller and Ballon Bleu were third (69.26 percent).

The Danish Möller was the shining star in the medium tour class, the Intermediaire A. She won this competition together with her 11-year-old Trakehner Hamilton (69.38 percent) and ranked second with the 13-year-old Hanoverian Reve En Noir (67.88 percent).

Achleiten assistent rider Stefan Lehfellner had his fantastic third and fourth successes in the international young horses classes. In the final test for five-year-old horses he rode the bay Lilliano OLD (by Lissaro van de Helle) and received 8.84, which meant the victory. Second rank was taken by Lillian'os stable neighbour Valparaiso under Wibke Bruns, who received a total mark of 8.38. In the final of six-year-old horses the Rosandro-son Roberto Carlos MT, presented by Stefan Lehfellner, was unbeatable with a total mark of 8.36.
