2016 Swiss Warmblood Young Horse Championships

The 4-year old GB Kiss Me, the 5-year old Lorena de la Rouge Eau and the 6-year old Dolce Vita VII became the grand champions in their age division at the 2016 Swiss Warmblood Young Horse Championships held at the national equestrian centre in Avenches, Switzerland, on 16 - 18 September 2016. These nationals were open to Swiss warmblood bred and registered young horses.

In the 4-year old division Grand Prix rider Melanie Hofmann and the chestnut GB Kiss Me (by GB Konvally x Hohenstein) was placed first by judges Dieter Schüle, Hans Voser and Margret Dreier. Owned by breeder Hanni Grunder, GB Kiss Me scored a total of 82.38 points. Hofmann also placed second aboard Fritz and Hanni Grunder's GB Dolcino (by Don Index x De Niro) with 81.63 points. The bronze went to Sandra Hodel aboard Ferdi Hodel's Qrack vom Worrenberg (by Quaterback x Rohdiamant) with 77.38 points.

In the 5-year old division the favourite and winner of the warm up round also reigned in the finals: Eva Lachat on Lorena de la Rouge Eau (by Bequia x Buddenbrock). The Trakehner bred chestnut mare, owned by Simone Debora Brenn, totalled 7.87 for the victory and national title. Tamara Horisberger and Celine Juillard's chestnut mare Florestiny de Monfirak (by Florestan x De Niro) were the runners-up with 7.70, while Sabrina Schmid and Sabrina Schenk's dark bay gelding Razzano (by Riccione x Donnerknall) were third with 7.59 points.

In the 6-year old division Eva Lachat triumphed again but this time on the dark bay mare Dolce Vita VII (by De Niro x Don Primero) with a total of 66.72 points. She edged out Dorothea Sandra Cieslak aboard Thomas Hofer's TH Del Ria (by Dressage Royal x Sandro Hit), who finished second with 64.50 points. The winners of the qualifier, Melanie Hofmann and Hanni Grunder's GB La Ballerina (by Londontime x De Niro), slotted in third with 64.24 in the finals after the mare had two hiccups in the counter canter.
