Henrike Sommer Severely Injured in Riding Accident

German stallion and young horse rider Henrike Sommer severely injured herself falling off a stallion during training on the weekend of the Warendorf Stallion Parade.

Sommer fell off a stallion and the horse landed on top of her. The accident happened during a training session at the stud on Saturday 24 September 2016.

Henrike had to be airlifted by helicopter to the local hospital where she was diagnosed with severe fractures to her leg and three vertebrae. So far she already had to undergo two operations.

The 40-year old Senden based rider, who is a mother to 3-year old son Leopold, has been working for the Warendorf state stud since May 2015.
