
Ashley Wimmer's 11-year old Oldenburg mare Sommerhall has been decorated with the inaugural Lloyd Landkamer Perpetual Trophy at the 2016 USDF Finals in Lexington, Kentucky, on 13 November 2016.
Named for the first US Dressage Finals Show Manager and 2015 USDF Lifetime Achievement Award winner Lloyd Landkamer, this perpetual trophy is presented to the FEI highest-scoring mare at the US Dressage Finals.
This year’s recipient was the 11-year-old Oldenburg mare Somerhall, owned and ridden by Ashley Wimmer (Winston Salem, N.C), for achieving a score of 71.096% in the US Dressage Finals Intermediate I Open Championships.
The dark bay mare is by Sir Donnerhall out of Arantscha BC (by Archipel). She is bred by Theo Berkemeier in Germany. Wimmer discovered the mare in Germany as a 3-year old and training her up the levels herself. She competed at the 2010 and 2011 U.S. Young Horse Championships and 2013 U.S. Developing PSG Horse Championships. They made their international small tour debut at the 2013 CDI Devon and has been competing at small tour level the past three years.
The Lloyd Landkamer Perpetual Trophy is on permanent display at the USDF National Education Center, at the Kentucky Horse Park, in Lexington, KY.
