The Canadian born American Holly Simensen has been honoured with the Golden Badge of the German Oldenburg Horse Breeders' Society at the Althengstparade held on Saturday 19 November 2016 during the annual Oldenburg Stallion Licensing days.
Originally from Hampton, New Brunswick in Canada, Simensen lives in West Palm Beach, Florida. She is the widow of the late Dr. Marty Simensen, who was the U.S. eventing team veterinarian for 22 years and chairman of the AHSA Drugs and Medications Committee.
For the past twenty years Holly has been an amazing ambassador for the German Oldenburg Verband. Her amazing depth of knowledge and passion for horses has inspired numerous North American clients to discover, buy, breed and invest in German Oldenburg horses.
At the Althengst Parade, Holly was brought into the arena in an oldtimer car. Wilhelm Weerda, the President of the Oldenburger Pferdezuchtverband, commended Holly on her engagement to breeders and members of the Oldenburg Horse Breeders’ Society (OHBS) and for representing the OHBS during the last 20 years in North America.
"We would like to say a big thank you to Holly for all her time and efforts she spent. We are happy she will be part of the OHBS with all her experiences in the future and look forward to further cooperation," said the Oldenburg society.
Stallion licensing committee member Evelyn Schlotmann added, "this is an award for all of her comittment over the last 20 years. She received the golden badge of honour and she will keep working for Oldenburg - just a little bit less."
Holly Simensen is the breeder of, for instance, the Spanish owned and Grand Prix level competed Oldenburg licensed stallion Somerset (by Stedinger x Rubinstein) and the licensed stallion Withages (by Wolkentanz II x Davignon I). She also bred Emperadora (by Sir Donnerhall x Feiner Stern x Figaro) who ranked third at the 2012 Oldenburg Elite Mare Show in Rastede.
