Belgian Under 25 dressage rider Laurence Roos has been nominated amongst four young rising talents in Belgium for the 2016 VLP Talent of the Year title, awarded by the Flemmish Equestrian Federation (VLP).
The VLP Talent of the Year is decided by a group of experts, the rider's ranking, a public vote, the VLP board of directors and committees and the equestrian press.
For 2016 one dressage rider has been nominated: Laurence Roos. Aboard the Belgian warmblood Fil Rouge (by Stedinger x Argentinus), she represented Belgium at the 2016 European Under 25 Championships in Hagen, Germany, where she finished sixth. Her year highlight was winning the U25 kur to music at the most prestigious dressage show in the world: the CDIO Aachen. In addition she also won U25 classes at the CDI Lier and CDI Nieuw en St. Joosland. Roos graduated from university this year as a dentist.
The other three talents in the running for the title are three show jumpers: Zoe Conter, Gilles Thomas and Boy-Adrian van Gelderen.
Two times the VLP Talent of the Year title has been won by a dressage rider: Belgian Grand Prix team riders Julie de Deken and Jorinde Verwimp won it in 2010 and 2014.
The winner will be announced at the 2016 CSI/CDI Jumping Mechelen. The public can vote here.
