Swedish Under 25 rider Lina Dolk has been nominated as the dressage candidate for the 2016 Comet of the Year Award which will be awarded at the 2017 Swedish Riders Gala in Gothenburg on 22 February 2017.
Each year Swedish equestrian magazine Tidningen Ridsport selects three riders from the three Olympic disciplines for the Comet of the Year award to honour the most successful Swedish shooting star of the year.
For the 2016 Comet of the Year award the nominees are the show jumper Karin Martinsen, eventer Malin Josefsson, and dressage rider Lina Dolk.
The 19-year old Dolk was the most successful Swedish youth rider this year, winning team bronze at the 2016 European Under 25 Championships. Aboard the seasoned Grand Prix stallion Biggles, she also became the silver medalist at the Swedish Under 25 Championships and third at the 2016 CDIO-U25 Aachen. Dolk has been trained by Emilie Brolin and this year switched to Kristian von Krusenstierna. Lina also showed her young rider's horse Jouleen af Hogberget (by Biggles x Marino) and the 7-year old Danish warmblood De Lazat Ø (by De Noir x Solos Landtinues).
The Swedish Riders Gala did not take place in 2016 but was postponed until February 207. Originally the Riders Gala is held during the CDI-W Stockholm in November, but the 2016 edition has been postponed until the 2017 CDI-W Gothenburg.
