Dutch B-squad Grand Prix rider Marlies van Baalen has today announced that she and her husband Titus de Vries are expecting their first child. Van Baalen is three months pregnant.
"We are blessed, grateful and excited to share that we are expecting our first child in August," Marlies announced.
The 36-year old Van Baalen and 37-year old De Vries will be first time parents. The couple met on a blind date at the 2006 CDI-W Amsterdam and they married at castle Ammersoyen in Ammerzoden, The Netherlands, on 20 September 2008.
Titus is the son of Jan de Vries, who is founder of the management and consultancy company BMC. He is a lawyer by profession and works at Clifford Chance in Amsterdam, where he specialises in banking and acquisition finance.
