Marieke van der Putten, the 2017 Dutch Indoor Grand Prix champion, has been hired by Saskia Lemmens' RS2 Dressage as their new assistant trainer.

RS2 Dressage is based in Groesbeek, The Netherlands, and is owned and operated by Saskia Lemmens and her husband Jacques. They already have Seth Boschman and Robin van Lierop as their main riders and they have now added Van der Putten to their team of jockeys.

The fact that RS2 Dressage would become Van der Putten's new employer was partly revealed at the CDI Lier this weekend, where Seth Boschman showed an atypically big interest in Van der Putten's warm up and test riding on Ambria.

Van der Putten used to be Edward Gal and Hans Peter Minderhoud's young horse rider and her departure from their yard was quite a surprise as Marieke got an amazing string of horses to ride, the majority of them owned by Gaston Glock.

"We couldn't pass up on getting a rider of Marieke's caliber," said Lemmens. "We invited her to our stable and there put her wishes and our needs together. We quickly concluded that this would be a very good match." Van der Putten added that she is "so looking forward to this new adventure."
