The Oldenburg licensed breeding stallion Don Primaire passed away at age 25. The dark bay stallion was euthanized due to age related complications.
Don Primaire was born in 1992 and bred by Hendrik Schulte-Frohlinde. He was by Donnerhall out of La Fayette (by Pik Bube I x Magister x Lateran).
He was approved at the 1994 Oldenburg Stallion Licensing in Oldenburg and did his 100-day stallion performance test in Medingen in 1995. He scored 113.47 points in total to finish 10th in a group of 36 stallions. He had the second highest dressage score of 138.19 points, but only 88.16 points (24th) for show jumping.
Initially owned by Silke Schaerffer, Don Primaire only competed one year in Germany as a 3-year old. He did two shows, one under Schaerffer and the other under Ingo Menze, who won the 3-year old riding horse class at the 1995 Oldenburg Youn Horse Championships in Rastede.
In 1996 Don Primaire moved to The Netherlands and stood at stud at his new owner stallion station De Radstake, as well as at Spekenbrink's stallion station. He was competed by Coby van Baalen's assistant trainer Nathalie Smeets, before young rider Joyce Heuitink took over. With her he was nominated as the reserve horse for the Dutch team for the 2002 European Young Riders Championships in Pratoni del Vivaro. Afterwards Nars Gottmer competed him briefly before he was sold.
In the spring of 2007 the British based French rider Laetitia van de Wyck acquired Don Primaire in The Netherlands as a schoolmaster. He took her from novice level to Prix St Georges.
As a breeding stallion, Don Primaire sired two licensed sons (Don Larnels, Donnels) and five state premium mares.
Don Primaire was retired to the field as a 21 year old.
